Bespoke hand built kitchen with built in kitchen cabinet and free standing island with modern graphic floor tiles and blue linoleum on birch plywood kitchen units

This kitchen proves small East sac bungalows can have high function and all the storage of a larger kitchen. A large peninsula overlooks the dining and living room for an open concept. A lower countertop areas gives prep surface for baking and use of small appliances. Geometric hexite tiles by fireclay are finished with pale blue grout, which complements the upper cabinets. The same hexite pattern was recreated by a local artist on the refrigerator panes. A textured striped linen fabric by Ralph Lauren was selected for the interior clerestory windows of the wall cabinets.

Contemporary styling and a large, welcoming island insure that this kitchen will be the place to be for many family gatherings and nights of entertaining.

In this rowhome renovation, new cabinetry was fabricated and installed next to existing cabinetry in order to extend storage and counter area to the back exterior wall of the space, with all cabinets painted slate blue and fitted with new satin brass hardware. Polished white quartzite counters were paired with textured white ceramic wall tile. Walnut and brass shelves were installed a special display focal point. Dishwasher, undermount sink, and pull-out rash and recycling drawers were located at the new island. A simple custom table with benches were fabricated for a breakfast nook next to an outdoor garden.

The most notable design component is the exceptional use of reclaimed wood throughout nearly every application. Sourced from not only one, but two different Indiana barns, this hand hewn and rough sawn wood is used in a variety of applications including custom cabinetry with a white glaze finish, dark stained window casing, butcher block island countertop and handsome woodwork on the fireplace mantel, range hood, and ceiling. Underfoot, Oak wood flooring is salvaged from a tobacco barn, giving it its unique tone and rich shine that comes only from the unique process of drying and curing tobacco.

Cherry wood cabinets, Black Galaxie granite counters;
Pella Doors and transom windows for entire back wall allowing sunlight to stream into kitchen; Restored and replaced ( where needed) original 200 year old hardwood floors.

We completely remodeled an outdated, poorly designed kitchen that was separated from the rest of the house by a narrow doorway. We opened the wall to the dining room and framed it with an oak archway. We transformed the space with an open, timeless design that incorporates a counter-height eating and work area, cherry inset door shaker-style cabinets, increased counter work area made from Cambria quartz tops, and solid oak moldings that echo the style of the 1920's bungalow. Some of the original wood moldings were re-used to case the new energy efficient window.

This large kitchen in a converted schoolhouse needed an unusual approach. The owners wanted an eclectic look – using a diverse range of styles, shapes, sizes, colours and finishes.
The final result speaks for itself – an amazing, quirky and edgy design. From the black sink unit with its ornate mouldings to the oak and beech butcher’s block, from the blue and cream solid wood cupboards with a mix of granite and wooden worktops to the more subtle free-standing furniture in the utility.
Top of the class in every respect!
