The layout of the kitchen is a galley with the island oriented parallel to the living room. The kitchen is lit with a mixture of concealed lighting, integrated track lighting with pendants and recessed downlights.
Saffron Interiors LtdA stunning contemporary kitchen, bar area and utility room designed and installed by Saffron Interiors. Kitchen features Bronze Gold Slate and Halifax Natural Oak doors, handle-less cabinetry and a mix of quartz and Dekton work surfaces. Siemens Studioline appliances throughout with a Blanco Choice Icona 5-in-1 tap. The utility room is host to raised laundry appliances set in custom made tall housing. Every element in this kitchen is furnished with flourish, layered with refined detail, and executed with a level of care and attention that elevates the space into a work of functioning art.
Beaded in-frame cabinetry with matching beaded doors and drawers is complemented by additional decorative panelling and intricate craftsman cornicing, all tempered in a soft Grey Goose matte. Doors are fitted with a curated mix of chrome handles and knobs, hung on exposed butt hinges that add an intentional traditional accent. Worktops in polished Cambria Fairbourne cream quartz flow up into a 100mm backsplash and settle as stone windowsills, with every edge adorned with an ogee profile for added luxury.
A grand, bespoke wood range hood commands the space, featuring an antique mirror backsplash framed in stone for depth and drama. The hood itself is enriched with double-bead panelling, a decorative mantlepiece supported by ornate corbels, and a handcrafted Regency diamond brass grille by Armac Martin. The hood additionally houses walnut spice racks close at hand either side of the cooking zone.
The island is a centrepiece in its own right, embellished with a Winchester skirt plinth and topped with a raised walnut breakfast bar, finished with a laminated Dupont ogee edge. Behind the bar, an undermounted sink is paired with a fusion square Quooker tap for instant hot water. Chilled beverages are stored on one side within the integrated wine cooler, and glassware can be found at the opposing side, within the striking curved glass display cabinet, also made from solid walnut.
Keep looking, and even more thoughtful details are revealed. The dedicated wine rack above the American-style fridge freezer for more clever storage. The fisherpaykel Integrated Double DishDrawer dishwasher which can be used independently from one another. The upholstered window seat for a moment of quiet luxury within the kitchen.

Humphrey MunsonWhen the homeowners purchased this Victorian family home, they immediately set about planning the extension that would create a more viable space for an open plan kitchen, dining and living area. Approximately two years later their dream home is now finished. The extension was designed off the original kitchen and has a large roof lantern that sits directly above the main kitchen and soft seating area beyond. French windows open out onto the garden which is perfect for the summer months. This is truly a classic contemporary space that feels so calm and collected when you walk in – the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of modern family living.
Carefully zoning the kitchen, dining and living areas was the key to the success of this project and it works perfectly. The classic Lacanche range cooker is housed in a false chimney that is designed to suit the proportion and scale of the room perfectly. The Lacanche oven is the 100cm Cluny model with two large ovens – one static and one dual function static / convection with a classic 5 burner gas hob. Finished in stainless steel with a brass trim, this classic French oven looks completely at home in this Humphrey Munson kitchen.
The main prep area is on the island positioned directly in front of the main cooking run, with a prep sink handily located to the left hand side. There is seating for three at the island with a breakfast bar at the opposite end to the prep sink which is conveniently located near to the banquette dining area. Delineated from the prep area by the natural wooden worktop finished in Portobello oak (the same accent wood used throughout the kitchen), the breakfast bar is a great spot for serving drinks to friends before dinner or for the children to have their meals at breakfast time and after school.
The sink run is on the other side of the L shape in this kitchen and it has open artisan shelves above for storing everyday items like glassware and tableware. Either side of the sink is an integrated Miele dishwasher and a pull out Eurocargo bin to make clearing away dishes really easy. The use of open shelving here really helps the space to feel open and calm and there is a curved countertop cupboard in the corner providing space for storing teas, coffees and biscuits so that everything is to hand when making hot drinks.
The Fisher & Paykel fridge freezer has Nickleby cabinetry surrounding it with space above for storing cookbooks but there is also another under-counter fridge in the island for additional cold food storage. The cook’s pantry provides masses of storage for dry ingredients as well as housing the freestanding microwave which is always a fantastic option when you want to keep integrated appliances to a minimum in order to maximise storage space in the main kitchen.
Hardware throughout this kitchen is antique brass – this is a living finish that weathers with use over time. The glass globe pendant lighting above the island was designed by us and has antique brass hardware too. The flooring is Babington limestone tumbled which has bags of character thanks to the natural fissures within the stone and creates the perfect flooring choice for this classic contemporary kitchen.

Plain & PoshThis small kitchen space needed to have every inch function well for this young family. By adding the banquette seating we were able to get the table out of the walkway and allow for easier flow between the rooms. Wall cabinets to the counter on either side of the custom plaster hood gave room for food storage as well as the microwave to get tucked away. The clean lines of the slab drawer fronts and beaded inset make the space feel visually larger.
Humphrey MunsonThe key design goal of the homeowners was to install “an extremely well-made kitchen with quality appliances that would stand the test of time”. The kitchen design had to be timeless with all aspects using the best quality materials and appliances. The new kitchen is an extension to the farmhouse and the dining area is set in a beautiful timber-framed orangery by Westbury Garden Rooms, featuring a bespoke refectory table that we constructed on site due to its size.
The project involved a major extension and remodelling project that resulted in a very large space that the homeowners were keen to utilise and include amongst other things, a walk in larder, a scullery, and a large island unit to act as the hub of the kitchen.
The design of the orangery allows light to flood in along one length of the kitchen so we wanted to ensure that light source was utilised to maximum effect. Installing the distressed mirror splashback situated behind the range cooker allows the light to reflect back over the island unit, as do the hammered nickel pendant lamps.
The sheer scale of this project, together with the exceptionally high specification of the design make this kitchen genuinely thrilling. Every element, from the polished nickel handles, to the integration of the Wolf steamer cooktop, has been precisely considered. This meticulous attention to detail ensured the kitchen design is absolutely true to the homeowners’ original design brief and utilises all the innovative expertise our years of experience have provided.
