This painted L-shaped kitchen and island is a testament to the enduring appeal of character oak, with solid wood handleless doors and drawers set flush within the cabinetry for modern finish. Handmade with pride in our Co. Mayo workshop and set against the scenic backdrop of Co. Galway, with a quality of design and build to last generations. Styled in contemporary in-frame shaker, grey-painted cabinetry is paired with stainless steel handles and traditional butt hinges, while handleless units in piped oak bring warmth and depth. Rivière Rose Quartz, laced with delicate bluish-pink veins, adds a subtle vibrancy to the warm white worktop, which waterfalls gracefully over the island and sweeps upward into a full backsplash. Three Miele ovens are set at an ergonomic height for effortless use, while the undermounted sink is thoughtfully positioned between pull-out bins and dishwasher, alongside a flush stovetop and discreetly concealed hood. The integrated fridge/freezer is within easy reach for both the cook and those simply in search of a snack. The island offers generous prep space and casual seating for four, inviting conversation to flow as easily as the cooking. Character oak cabinetry compliments the home’s exposed solid wood beams, allowing the open-plan layout to blend seamlessly with its surroundings, both physically and visually. Handleless doors and push-open drawers bring a modern precision to the wood’s organic textures: swirls, flecks and burls make every surface unique. There is no substitute for the tactile warmth of tracing your fingertips over the full depth of the grain. The result is a kitchen that feels as though it has always belonged, rooted in the home yet built with modern conveniences. The project’s beauty is not from decoration, but an inherent quality of the materials themselves. Every wood surface invites touch, and every closer look rewards delightful detail.

An expansive open-plan yet traditionally styled kitchen, with a mix of rich warm wood soft cream tones. A wide range cooker sits amongst a row of base units, beneath a tiled backsplash and huge wood mantle. At the centre, a large kitchen island features wicker basket drawers, butcher block worktop and farmhouse-style integrated sink with a brass tap. To one side, a window seat offers a cozy nook beneath a window, and to the other a large set of cream cabinets bends around the corner displaying a collection of vintage decorative ceramics. Behind the tall cream units, a small pantry is designed with ample storage within easy reach. The project is filled with small architectural details and examples of traditional craftmanship to fulfil the desired ambience, all while integrated appliances afford no sacrifice of modern convenience.

This contemporary-country kitchen blends warm natural materials with timeless rustic finishes, balancing practicality with charm to create a modern yet inviting heart of the home. An in-frame design with beaded shaker doors, the tall and wall units are painted in a soft cream that reveals the subtle wood grain beneath, while the base units are crafted from rich character oak. Polished old English brass hardware complements the cabinetry, with crisp white worktops that wrap around the space and rise into a modest upstand for a clean, elegant finish. At the centre, a functional island provides ample preparation space and doubles as an informal dining spot for up to four people. The layout is anchored in an efficient working triangle with food storage, cooking, and cleaning zones kept within a tight circle, without disrupting the natural flow between adjoining rooms. A window seat offers a relaxed nook for reading or simply enjoying views of the rolling countryside beyond. Oak cabinetry and floating shelves lead the eye upwards, where matching exposed trusses and hayloft-style doors accentuate the vaulted ceiling, lending the kitchen a dramatic sense of height and scale. Subtle tongue-and-groove panelling and classic cornicing add layers of texture and craftsmanship, reinforcing the blend of modern function with traditional character. The result is a kitchen that feels spacious, welcoming, and full of personality — a celebration of natural materials and thoughtful design, combining rustic charm with everyday usability.
